The art counselor team at Ichen Art Academy specializes in helping art-major students prepare strong college art portfolios and apply for top art colleges and majors in the US. The team is also responsible for helping non-art-major students develop robust supplemental art portfolios for applying top private universities.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: We partner with Youth Art Foundation, a non-profit organization to help our students develop leadership and utilize their art talents and skills to make positive contributions to their communities.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Youth should plan to be online 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. weekdays, and to work ten additional hours per week on their projects. Most of the scheduled time is for projects but some of it will be for meetings.

Required equipment: A tablet or phone with a front-facing camera. A video camera or DSLR camera will also work.

CAMP FACILITIES: LODGING & FACILITIES
Students share cabins, eat great meals together and study and perform in acoustically perfect and sun-filled performance spaces. The mountains and meadows of Icicle Creek provide an open and beautiful backdrop with built-in opportunities for exploring. Students are housed on-site at Icicle Creek Center for the Arts in shared, chaperoned, cozy cabins. Cabins are air-conditioned, comfortable, and have their own bathroom with shower. The campers are organized according to age and gender and have an experienced camp counselor in their cabin.

A number of need-based scholarships will be given out to deserving students for each of the camps. Please indicate your interest in financial aid on the registration form and also complete the online scholarship application within registration. Note: Students are encouraged to participate in both theater camp sessions (dramatic acting and musical theater), but may also elect to choose only one. Recieve $50 off tuition when registering for both camps!

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The mission of US Performing Arts Camps is to promote and develop the growth of performing artists in America.

US Performing Arts Camps is considered the premier top tier summer program for training young people in the arts. Our programs are taught by the university or college departments and their professional faculty and guest professionals in their fields.

US Performing Arts offers programs in Animation, Computer Animation, Costume design, Directing, Film-making (including 4K High-definition), Dance, Hip Hop Dance, Musical Theater, Play-writing, Sit Com Writing, Sit Com Acting, Singing, Voice-over work for animation, movies and games, and we started the first College Audition Boot Camps for high school students.

CAMP FACILITIES: Alpengirl campers sleep in 3-4 person backpacking style tents, we practice outdoor living, cooking, and Leave No Trace skills. A majority of our campsites have bathroom and running water and are located in gorgeous wilderness settings in mountains, next to fresh water streams, and by pristine lakes.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Alpengirl Camp is accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA) and has a staff to camper ratio of 1:4 or 1:6. Our camp is highly supervised with small groups of 12 girls led by 2-3 adult female role model Alpenguides. Alpenguides are all 21+ and hold certifications in Wilderness First Aid and CPR.

CAMP FACILITIES: One in-person camp will be held at the Georgetown Public Library in July 2025, located in Sussex County, DE.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Camp TechWise offers 5-day computer day-camps in Seattle for kids ages 8 - 16. Each participant will choose ONE of the primary topics at the time they enroll. Once at camp, campers can decide to stay focused on their "primary topic / project" or jump into any number of secondary workshops which are offered throughout each day. Secondary topics include subjects such as programming, networking, website development, gaming, and also outside recreation and sports. Our customizable computer camp program serves the needs of both the Techy-kids who want full-immersion and also those who want a program with a balance of several topics and/or recreation periods. CAMP FACILITIES: Bethaday Community Learning Space (BCLS), the home of TAF, is a LEED-Silver certified multipurpose building, located in beautiful Lakewood Park in the White Center Area. BCLS is surrounded by trees, a small lake and fabulous picnic areas.

We offer a multipurpose room with a full kitchen, four technology-filled classrooms for our youth (equipped with SMART boards, A/V systems, and laptops for student use), an academic support room and plenty of outdoor space. There is ample parking and the building is ADA compliant.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: TAF campers learn cool, cutting-edge STEM skills while engaging in fun, hands-on projects.

Each session will feature a field trip to a museum, research site, or learning space that relates to the focus of the week.

Join SLP for any of our week-long sessions of musical theatre fun! Each week will feature a different theme/musical. Camps are open to all students in grades (entering) K-5. Students are split up to work with different instructors throughout the day.

Full day camps (9-3:30), as well as after-care (3:30-5:45) are available each week!

Classes are held all summer long on stage at the historic Wing-It Productions Theatre, with daily walking field trips to Cowen Park! Students also gain hands on experience with the technical aspects of theatre by experimenting in the light/sound booth. All camps include pizza on Friday and a free performance for family and friends on stage!

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Stone Soup’s Theatre educational programs focus on giving each young actor the tools they need to succeed on stage. All our student productions are actor-centered, our students are the true stars of our shows! We take focus away from the technical aspects of theatre and put it back in our young actors’ imaginations. We use suggestive costuming, sets and props to allow the students’ bodies, focus, reactions and facial expressions be what shows our audience the world and environment of the play.

SUMMER CAMP JOBS:
Summer Teaching Internship/Assistant Director
Work with youth ages 5-17 each week to perform 30-minute versions of a wide variety of genres including adaptations of musicals like Hamilton and Frozen, Shakespeare, and literature based classics like Peter Rabbit, Through the Looking Glass, and A Wrinkle in Time. We need interns and assistant directors who love kids and theatre.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Pratt Youth Programs
Pratt’s youth program fosters an appreciation of art for students ages 5-12. Pratt introduces students to a variety of materials and artistic concepts to evoke their curiosity and to hone their natural creativity develop perseverance, and critical thinking. Professional artists teach students in a fun, relaxed environment where they can express their creativity and gain self-confidence. The techniques developed at Pratt do not stop here; students use these new skills artistically, academically, and interpersonally. Theatre Arts Camps

If you like making up shows with your friends, these are the camps for you! Every day is about choosing characters, creating stories, playing theatre games and rehearsing a show! CAMP FACILITIES: Our facilities include 12 classrooms, a performing arts center, an amphitheater, a playground, basketball courts, a play field, and a multipurpose room which serves as a gym and a dining hall.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: In this week-long drama camp, we will learn the tricks of the trade, from stage terms to make-up, costumes, and props. Basic theater movement and dance will be explored.

Campers will play improvisation and drama games, learn how to read a script with a discerning eye, and deliver lines with Oscar-worthy expression. With the help of an experienced drama teacher, we will put on a production of theatrical proportions.

Camp Staff:
Katerina Romanenko, Ph.D. Assistant Director of Youth and Family Programs

An experienced educator and visual culture historian, Dr. Romanenko specializes in Museum education, art history, American History, and object-based learning in formal and informal environments. She holds a PhD in Art History from the City University of New York and for more than 15 years teaches art history and works in Museum education. She also holds a BA in Education Sciences and has experience in research, development and implementation of educational programs for different age groups.

Alicia Mino, Art Educator, Manager of the School and Community Programs

An accomplished practicing artists and art educator, Alicia Mino received her Master’s in visual communication from the Metropolitan University of Chile, She spent fifteen years in Italy studying art history, oil painting, and sculpture. She presented in numerous art exhibitions and founded the Mates Art and Design Studio, where she taught drawing, oil/acrylic painting, and sculpture fundamentals for ten years. In 2008 Alicia moved to Philadelphia where she continues to exhibit her work and teaches art.

Lindsey Murphy, Art Educator and K-8 Program Coordinator

An art educator with over a decade of experience in the field of education, Lindsey Murphy has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology; concentration in Archaeology from Millersville University, and an Elementary Teaching Certification from Millersville University. She worked as a general education classroom teacher in the Oxford Area School District in Chester County, PA for 8 years, and has worked in PAFA’s education department over the past 11 years creating and implementing numerous museum tours and art making experiences for children and families of all backgrounds, becoming the K-8 Program Coordinator in 2019..

Melissa Hendrixson, Art Educator

Melissa Hendrixson is an artist and art educator who has worked in Museum Education for over five years. She has her Bachelor's of Fine Arts and Studio Certificate from Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and has gained experience through assisting the coordination and development of various museum programming including family programs, youth art classes, and summer camps. She now works for the School and Community Partnership Program as an art educator where she develops and implements museum tours, school lessons, and community outreach programs to support student learning, parental engagement and visual literacy initiatives.

CAMP FACILITIES: Campers and Staff live in canvas tipis, in units of 6-8 tipis, with three people per tipi. Third and fourth graders live in platform tents, with four people per tent. We have an open-air lodge for dining and all-camp events, and two shower houses, one for each side of camp. The bulk of our activities take place outdoors - on the Waterfront, in the Challenge Course, the Archery range, Craft Shop porch or out in the woods exploring our property.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Our program is based on creating a community living and learning situation for camper units of the same age or grade. Campers learn to cooperate with and support other members of their peer group, while moving through our program areas as a unit. While we have several free-choice opportunities throughout the session, our campers learn and grow as individuals while working through activities and challenges as a unit.
All of our staff go through a two-week staff training together, preparing program areas, practicing safety procedures, working with equipment and attending important sessions covering topics from working with children to bullying and child-abuse prevention.

Each camper unit has two unit leaders who attend all activities with that unit and provide support for each camper while facilitating team building and group bonding. These unit leaders are in addition to our program teaching staff, allowing our staff:camper ratio to be at least 1:5. Units are schedule to participate in activities week by week, including drama, archery, nature, adobe oven, garden, high and low ropes course elements, canoeing, kayaking, sailing and an endless amount crafts activities.

In addition to our daily programs, all camper units go on overnight camping trips once per week, and beginning at age 13 participate in multi-day outcamp trips. These excursions include hiking, canoeing, kayaking, sailing and biking. There are many opportunities for campers of different ages to interact with each other, including all-camp activities in the evenings such as square dances, and special events days.

CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Financial Aid applicants submit a camper application and scholarship forms by Dec 31st of each year for the next summer. Awards are announced by March 1st. Approximately 20-25 families receive financial aid each year. Most awards cover a portion of tuition, and our focus for awards is geared towards families with an income of $50,000 or less.
