Katerina Romanenko, Ph.D. Assistant Director of Youth and Family Programs

An experienced educator and visual culture historian, Dr. Romanenko specializes in Museum education, art history, American History, and object-based learning in formal and informal environments. She holds a PhD in Art History from the City University of New York and for more than 15 years teaches art history and works in Museum education. She also holds a BA in Education Sciences and has experience in research, development and implementation of educational programs for different age groups.

Alicia Mino, Art Educator, Manager of the School and Community Programs

An accomplished practicing artists and art educator, Alicia Mino received her Master’s in visual communication from the Metropolitan University of Chile, She spent fifteen years in Italy studying art history, oil painting, and sculpture. She presented in numerous art exhibitions and founded the Mates Art and Design Studio, where she taught drawing, oil/acrylic painting, and sculpture fundamentals for ten years. In 2008 Alicia moved to Philadelphia where she continues to exhibit her work and teaches art.

Lindsey Murphy, Art Educator and K-8 Program Coordinator

An art educator with over a decade of experience in the field of education, Lindsey Murphy has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology; concentration in Archaeology from Millersville University, and an Elementary Teaching Certification from Millersville University. She worked as a general education classroom teacher in the Oxford Area School District in Chester County, PA for 8 years, and has worked in PAFA’s education department over the past 11 years creating and implementing numerous museum tours and art making experiences for children and families of all backgrounds, becoming the K-8 Program Coordinator in 2019..

Melissa Hendrixson, Art Educator

Melissa Hendrixson is an artist and art educator who has worked in Museum Education for over five years. She has her Bachelor's of Fine Arts and Studio Certificate from Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and has gained experience through assisting the coordination and development of various museum programming including family programs, youth art classes, and summer camps. She now works for the School and Community Partnership Program as an art educator where she develops and implements museum tours, school lessons, and community outreach programs to support student learning, parental engagement and visual literacy initiatives.

Our mission is to invite all people to experience the wonder of creation and to grow in closer harmony with God, with nature, and with one another. CAMP FACILITIES: Our camp is located at Blue Mountain Resort nestled in the Pocono mountains. For residential campers we offer cabins that sleep 8-10 campers, a counselor, and a junior counselor. Bathrooms and showers are located in the adjacent building. All campers will have Blue Mountain facilities at their disposal depending on the activities of your child's choice. Blue Mountain has laser tag accommodations, a ropes course, climbing wall, a zipline course, disc golf course, and an archery range. Campers also have the choice to go horseback riding at Apollo Farms or go on a Jim Thorpe River Adventure!

OTHER CAMP INFO: Camp Winnipeg, located in West Chester at the West Chester Area YMCA provides campers who are preschool age through 8th grade with a summer they'll never forget. Campers have an opportunity to make friends and participate in a variety of camp activities including: arts & crafts, sports, free swim, field games, community service and weekly themed activities.

Camp Winnipeg runs for 11 weeks from June 13 through August 26 and registration for camp is done by the week to allow families flexibility to select camp weeks that work for them. SUMMER CAMP JOBS:
The counselors have the most direct impact on a child’s experience at camp. We are seeking dedicated, fun, enthusiastic staff who understand that “Campers Come First.” Counselors must be at least 18 years of age or have graduated from high school. All counselors will teach in one of our program areas and co-lead a cabin of 8-12 children. Pay is $250-$275 per week depending on experience.

A full-time Registered Nurse and well stock infirmary are available during regular camp hours. Our staff members are experienced, highly qualified leaders who model friendship and consideration of others to all children. As positive and caring leaders, our counselors and supervisors display the sensitivity required to work well with children meeting their social, emotional and physical needs.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Our CIT (counselor in training) program is a learning and transition program for 13, 14 and 15 year-olds. CIT's are organized into groups of 15 boys or girls and get to experience the best of two world's at camp. The counselors for these groups are chosen for their mature, yet youthful, outlooks. A CIT day encompasses work experience, bunk activities including lunch and swimming, as well as sport and recreational periods. CIT's work with both specialist and bunks developing leadership and organizational skills. Daily bunk-time activities include co-ed games, group meetings and discussions, swim and water games, as well as, other recreational opportunities. As the oldest campers, CIT's are rewarded with day trips and after-hours activities supervised by their counselors, division leaders and other staff.

CAMP FACILITIES: Camp Sequoia is very fortunate to call The Perkiomen School campus our summer home. Pennsburg is a suburban area approximately a one hour drive northwest of Philadelphia in Montgomery County. The proximity of many educational and recreational activities to Pennsburg make our weekly out of camp trips very convenient.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The Perkiomen School offers a wide array of playing fields and outdoor athletic facilities such as tennis and basketball courts. An indoor, competition size swimming pool, multiple gyms and top notch art facilities are just a few of the indoor highlights. When it's time for bed, campers will enjoy the comfort of their bedrooms which feature closets, dressers and desks. Bad weather is no problem at Camp Sequoia thanks to our amazing facilities. This is a great asset to our campers who have trouble with change in schedules.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: The LIT program meets the need for young people ages 16-17 who are not yet ready for a summer job and need help developing their social thinking skills, independent skills and job readiness skills. Camp Sequoia's Leader-In-Training program provides a safe and supportive environment for our LIT's to learn and practice these important skills.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: Sequoia Kids Weekend Program: A School Year Social Skill Development and Recreational Program for children ages 7-15. Dynamic trips up and down the East Coast foster real life social skills lessons. Camp Leadership and a Registered Nurse are always on these trips.

Our facilities also include four dormitories, an air-conditioned dining hall, classroom buildings, open practice rooms, dance and fine art studios, athletic center with two gymnasiums, fitness rooms and swimming pool, new stadium, tennis courts and artificial turf fields, three computer labs and a 20,000 volume library.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: If you are an artist, or aspire to be, Sem is the place to spend your summer. Here you may choose from dedicated session of study in vocal performance, symphony orchestra, dance and theater, along with several visual arts courses. For the past 62 summers, campers have enjoyed the spirit and excitement of the Trail’s End Camp experience. Chestnut Lake has been designed to emulate the traditions and excellence of Trail’s End while providing your family with the flexibility of 3-week or 6-week alternatives. In 2008, Chestnut Lake opened its gates as the Northeast’s premier session camp located in the northeast corner of Pennsylvania, just 2 ½ hours from NYC and Philadelphia.

Chestnut Lake offers boys and girls a brand new, state-of-the-art facility along with creative day and evening programming. Chestnut Lake is an all around camp with a strong sports program. Whether your child is an athlete or an artist, Chestnut Lake has the activities and staff that will Bring Out the Best in every camper!

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: During the summer before 11th grade, campers have the opportunity to participate in our Leadership Training year. During this summer we incorporate additional leadership and community service elements into the program including Stepping for Success, a large fundraiser for the Make-A-Wish Foundation ran completely by campers.

We also incorporate travel into the program. Leadership Trainees will take two College Trips and a 10-day trip to Utah which includes 4 days rafting on the Colorado River and hiking Bryce & Zion National Parks.

CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: At the YMCA, we do not turn anyone away due to an inability to pay. The Y is a non-profit charitable organization that strengthens the foundations of our community. Thanks to donations to the Y's Annual Campaign, we can offer financial assistance to those unable to pay the standard fees.*

Anyone is invited to apply for an income-based YMCA membership or financial assistance. Those receiving income-based memberships are also eligible to receive discounted rates for programming, including camp!

OTHER CAMP INFO: Camp Chippewa, located in West Grove at the Jennersville YMCA provides campers from preschool age through 6th grade with a summer they'll never forget. Campers have an opportunity to make friends and participate in a variety of camp activities including: arts & crafts, sports, free swim, field games, community service and weekly themed activities.

Camp Chippewa runs for 14 weeks from May 30 through September 2 and registration for camp is done by the week to allow families flexibility to select camp weeks that work for them. Camp Chippewa also offers a variety of specialty camps including: aquatics, dance, theatre and junior lifeguarding. Camp runs from 9 AM - 4 PM each day, aftercare is included in the price of camp. Yesh Shabbat features small class sizes and low student-to-faculty ratios.

CAMP FACILITIES: Our 12 cabins and the retreat house, provide lodging for up to 150 people. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: For almost 50 years the Penn-York Camp Association (PYC) has provided a Natural Place to encounter Christ the whole year long. The vision of supporting the churches and communities of New York and Pennsylvania is accomplished through various ministries. Outreach includes summer kids camps, group retreats, challenge course, outdoor adventure and special events. PYC began with a dream and a committed core and over the years through hard work, determination and many miracles, the Lord has blessed us with an amazing facility.

CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Penn York Camp offers an automatic campership of $50 or $100 for those who choose to select one. If more finacial aid is required, call the office and speak with the administrator.
