OTHER CAMP INFO: Camp Leo, located in Exton at the Church Farm School provides campers who have completed kindergarten through 8th grade with a summer they'll never forget. Campers have an opportunity to make friends and participate in a variety of camp activities including: arts & crafts, sports, free swim, field games, community service and weekly themed activities.

Camp Leo runs for 11 weeks from June 13 through August 26 and registration for camp is done by the week to allow families flexibility to select camp weeks that work for them. Camp Leo also runs a STEAM specialty camp. Camp runs from 9 AM - 4 PM each day, aftercare is included in the price of camp. Before care is available for a nominal fee. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The Broadway Dreams Foundation is a week-long day intensive where our students work with a faculty of Broadways finest. During the course of the week,the students will be trained in classes and have rehearsals with the staff in order to prepare for the showcase that is presented at the end of the week to family friends,and industry agents!

On the last day of the intensive,students will audition for Telsey and Co as well as other Casting Agency's. More than 3,000 students have participated in Broadway Dreams programs.

Past students have gone on to perform with Broadway, national touring and regional productions including Bring It On: The Musical (Ryann Redmond, Calli Alden), Bare (Ariana Groover), Memphis (Lindsay Roberts), The Book of Mormon (Paris Nesbitt), Shrek (Chase Todd), Evita (Katie Huff), The Addams Family (Ethan Wexler), A Chorus Line (Sidney DuPont) and Spring Awakening (Blake Daniel).

CAMP FACILITIES: We have 48 modern air-conditioned cabins, a dining hall to fit our entire camp in one seating, rec hall, covered basketball courts and hockey rink, 8 basketball courts, 12 tennis courts, a heated outdoor pool, two private lakes, an indoor theatre and social hall, our own private golf course, outdoor adventure ropes course and high climbing wall with high elements. We have a full fine arts center, as well.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Tyler Hill is a full seven-week co-ed camp in Wayne County, PA. We have 480 campers from all over the tri-state area and Florida, and provide a well-rounded camp experience, including sports, arts and electives, waterfront , outdoor adventure, camp spirit and a true summer family. CAMP FACILITIES: The Academy contains four spacious and well-equipped dance studios, two acting studios, two private voice studios, a student practice room, a student/teacher library, a student lounge and a comfortable waiting area for parents accompanying students to the Academy. In addition, the Charles Gray Auditorium offers the Academy a theater in which to showcase the accomplishments and achievements of its student body.

By providing the finest dance, voice and acting training in a positive, fun-filled class setting, the CLO Academy encourages both an appreciation for musical theater and a well-rounded education.

The Handwork Studio LLC is a kids' needle arts and fashion studio and camp. Our purpose is to pass down the tradition of teaching practical arts such as knitting, crocheting, hand and machine sewing, embroidery, quilting, fashion and crafts in a fun and relaxed environment.

Our staff is comprised of professional artists, instructors and skilled teachers, dedicated to making each student feel special. Our teaching philosophy is one that focuses on the students’ accomplishments. We will never criticize the student's work, but praise his or her efforts.

If you believe a job is to inspire and create, smiles are a part of the uniform and don't mind occasionally getting tangled in thread we need to talk! The Handwork Studio is on the search for that ‘needle in a haystack’ to help us forge ahead on our mission to educate children in the needle-arts.

Qualified Candidates Must:
-- Be passionate, warm, caring and ultimately a happy person that will bring excitement to the classroom
-- Be high energy; able to sit on the floor and/or stand for an extended period of time
-- Enjoy crafting in one or more of the following skills: knitting, crocheting, machine and hand sewing, embroidery, etc. You do not need to be an expert. We will train you on our methods.

CAMP FACILITIES: WGDC is a 40 acre facility. Our cabins, Dining Hall, and Activity Barn, are air conditioned. Cabins have clean modern bathrooms and changing areas. We have 4 heated pools (2 with slides), a wading pool, basketball courts,softball and soccer fields, a 1 acre lake for boating and fishing, a challenge ropes course and much, much more!

SUMMER STUDY PROGRAMS

CAMP FACILITIES: We have 3 outdoor riding arenas with jumping courses, access to an outdoor pool, stables with stalls for 45 horses, an arts & crafts room, changing room and a seperate lunch/activity room.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The day camp at Ashford Farm in suburban Philadelphia is for children ages 6 to 14 who are interested in learning the correct basics of horsemanship and riding in an atmosphere designed for both safety and fun.

In addition to daily riding and horse care instruction, camp activities include arts and crafts, swimming and outdoor games. The program also features a camp picnic, field trips, a sleepover, a camp horse show and Parents Day.

Our enrollment is limited to 40. Beginner, intermediate and advanced groups are formed according to riding ability.

Katerina Romanenko, Ph.D. Assistant Director of Youth and Family Programs

An experienced educator and visual culture historian, Dr. Romanenko specializes in Museum education, art history, American History, and object-based learning in formal and informal environments. She holds a PhD in Art History from the City University of New York and for more than 15 years teaches art history and works in Museum education. She also holds a BA in Education Sciences and has experience in research, development and implementation of educational programs for different age groups.

Alicia Mino, Art Educator, Manager of the School and Community Programs

An accomplished practicing artists and art educator, Alicia Mino received her Master’s in visual communication from the Metropolitan University of Chile, She spent fifteen years in Italy studying art history, oil painting, and sculpture. She presented in numerous art exhibitions and founded the Mates Art and Design Studio, where she taught drawing, oil/acrylic painting, and sculpture fundamentals for ten years. In 2008 Alicia moved to Philadelphia where she continues to exhibit her work and teaches art.

Lindsey Murphy, Art Educator and K-8 Program Coordinator

An art educator with over a decade of experience in the field of education, Lindsey Murphy has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology; concentration in Archaeology from Millersville University, and an Elementary Teaching Certification from Millersville University. She worked as a general education classroom teacher in the Oxford Area School District in Chester County, PA for 8 years, and has worked in PAFA’s education department over the past 11 years creating and implementing numerous museum tours and art making experiences for children and families of all backgrounds, becoming the K-8 Program Coordinator in 2019..

Melissa Hendrixson, Art Educator

Melissa Hendrixson is an artist and art educator who has worked in Museum Education for over five years. She has her Bachelor's of Fine Arts and Studio Certificate from Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and has gained experience through assisting the coordination and development of various museum programming including family programs, youth art classes, and summer camps. She now works for the School and Community Partnership Program as an art educator where she develops and implements museum tours, school lessons, and community outreach programs to support student learning, parental engagement and visual literacy initiatives.

OTHER CAMP INFO: Camp UMLY, located in Berwyn at the Upper Main Line YMCA provides campers who are preschool age through 8th grade with a summer they'll never forget. Campers have an opportunity to make friends and participate in a variety of camp activities including: arts & crafts, sports, free swim, field games, environmental and nature programming, community service and weekly themed activities.

Camp UMLY runs for 13 weeks from May 31 through August 26 and registration for camp is done by the week to allow families flexibility to select camp weeks that work for them. Camp UMLY also runs specialty camps including: sports, tennis, STEM, nature, woodshop, animal care, art, dance, theater and more. Camp runs from 9 AM - 4 PM each day, aftercare is included in the price of camp. Before care is available for a nominal fee. Half day camp options are available for specific programs. CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: During the summer before 11th grade, campers have the opportunity to participate in our Leadership Training year. During this summer we incorporate additional leadership and community service elements into the program including Stepping for Success, a large fundraiser for the Make-A-Wish Foundation ran completely by campers.

We also incorporate travel into the program. Leadership Trainees will take two College Trips and a 10-day trip to Utah which includes 4 days rafting on the Colorado River and hiking Bryce & Zion National Parks.

It is United Methodist affiliated, and open to all Christian denominations. Lodging ranges from luxury private rooms to family-style lodges and cozy cabins, with delicious meals for up to 350-400 guests. The Inn and Lodge have kitchens, lounges, fireplaces. Cabins have lounge/common area and 16-24 beds, mini-fridge and coffeepot/or full kitchen.

Outdoor sports facilities include basketball, volleyball, sand volleyball, baseball/softball, tennis, swimming pool, soccer, archery, shuffleboard, mountainboarding, & an 18 hole disc golf course. Camper-counselor ratios are 4:1 and include both paid and volunteer counselors who are screened and trained prior to working with campers. Camp is a place to learn, grow, and enjoy the great outdoors. Campers learn confidence, caring and social skills, spiritual lessons and personal growth in a community of encouragement. Not only is it challenging and fun, the Jumonville Adventure Program is an outstanding tool for building teamwork, confidence, and problem-solving in life-changing ways.

Children, youth, adults and families may come for a week of recreation, inspiration, and adventure for a very reasonable rate. In addition, scholarship help is available for those who want to come, but the full cost would be a hardship.
It is easy to step back in time while exploring the area's rich history and heritage. Jumonville Glen was the site of George Washington's first battle, and a small museum of artifacts has been preserved from the French and Indian War that followed.

In addition, the state operated an Orphan School on the property after the Civil War. The beautiful campus, 19th century stone buildings, and flagstone walkways reflect the rich past of this mountaintop, and yet still offer exceptional lodging, comfort and modern conveniences. Camp has always been a great way to make new friends, grow in faith, and experience the best fun of the summer with something for everyone to enjoy!

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Being a CIT at YMCA Camp Soles gives you a unique training opportunity that will serve you well should you ever desire to return as a camp counselor, work in day care or after-school programs, or become a coach or mentor for younger kids. Our CIT program is specifically designed for teens who are interested in working with kids. We teach critical counseling skills, behavior management, and instruction techniques.

Being a CIT is about learning practical skills that you will hone at camp. For example, you will work with our staff as assistant instructors in the various program areas across Camp Soles. You will also be assigned a cabin to help with everything from running activities to working with homesick campers. Camp is after all about learning through positive relationships and our counselors are role models for our CITs as much as they are for campers.

CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: At the Y, no child or family is turned away due to inability to pay. That holds true at YMCA camps as well. Realizing that different families have different abilities to pay, we created a three tier pricing program. Based on an honor system, your family chooses which tier you can afford. Tier placement does not change any aspect of the experience your child will receive. It is a way to ensure that every child can access the same opportunities.

CAMP FACILITIES: Our cabins are nestled in the woods, on a lake, and each one has a bathroom with two sinks, two toilets, and two showers. Our dining hall is large enough to seat the entire camp, so we are able to eat all of our meals as one big family. We have a heated outdoor pool, two baseball fields, two large multi-purpose fields (soccer, football, lacrosse), 6 tennis courts, an outdoor and an indoor basketball court, a fencing room, a fitness center, an indoor floor hockey/soccer rink, a multi-room arts & crafts center, more than 10 high ropes and climbing elements, a beautiful covered theater that overlooks the lake, plenty of forest for hiking, biking, and camping, and much more.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Our camp environment is designed to promote success, self-confidence and self-esteem for every single camper. We limit our enrollment to ensure that every camper is known - by name, by interests and by who they are as individuals. All of our programs combine skill development, challenges and fun, stressing participation and sportsmanship over winning while encouraging campers to get into the spirit of healthy competition.

We pride ourselves on hiring fantastic, talented staff. Our friendly counselors get the kind of training that helps them give their very best to your child. Many of our counselors are former campers who can't wait to share the Lake Owego experience from a first-hand perspective. We also personally recruit counselors from colleges and universities throughout the United States as well as some from Scotland, England and other countries.

Lake Owego Camp is owned by the Black family, who has been operating youth summer camps longer than almost anyone else. In 1931, Hughie and Selma Black founded Pine Forest Camp, which grew over the years to become a nationally recognized co-ed camp. Building on that success, Lake Owego for boys was opened in 1961, and our sister camp for girls, Camp Timber Tops, was opened in 1963.

Today, the third-generation and 4th generation leadership of Mickey and Barbara Black, and their children, Lee and Anna, carry on the family legacy, earning awards such as "Family Business of the Year" and serving as active leaders in the American Camping Association of America.

Directors John and Rachel Waszczak, Kyle Silver, Jeff Freedman and Shelly Silver have over 90 years of combined camp experience, and they work together a fantastic camp experience for each and every Lake Owego camper.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Campers going into 11th grade take part in our Counselor Assistant program, which includes opportunities to assist in teaching activities, assist in younger bunks, go on college tours to NY, MD, PA, MA, and a 2 week trip to Costa Rica. The Costa Rica trip is included in the camp tuition, and the campers will get to explorer and see the sites, go on a canopy zip-line tour, and hike around a volcano, as well as train for and put on a 1 week camp for underserved local children. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity!
