CAMPER AGES: 6-14
TYPE OF CAMP: Day Camp.
CAMPER GENDER(S): Coed Campers.
BRIEF CAMP DESCRIPTION: WillowWood offers programs for all ages every summer, in-person and/or online. Students in grades 1-8 may join Camp Discovery in a half-day or full-day setting that offers a combination of academic skill practice and fun activities such as STEM, swimming, arts, and trips (TBA).
CAMP INSTRUCTIONAL ACTIVITIES OFFERED:
Fine Arts/Crafts, Computers, Music/Band, Science, Math, Technology, Swimming, Volleyball, Basketball, Baseball, Soccer, and more.
CAMP LOCATION: We are located near Leslie Street and York Mills Road.
CAMP FACILITIES: Camp Discovery features an outdoor basketball court, indoor and outdoor table tennis, outdoor checkers tables, a grass volleyball court, and various "board games" such as Snakes and Ladders and Foursquares permanently painted onto our playgrounds. LEGO Brickworks and Shendy's swim school are located on our street (Scarsdale Road) and are frequently used by our camp.
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Activate and rejuvenate your child's learning this summer with in-person or virtual options to our Summer 2021 Camp Discovery for Grades 1-8. Our program features opportunities to improve in Language and Math skills, participate in STEM learning, and have fun in the sun with outdoor activities such as swimming, field trips, and sports. Located at WillowWood School, Camp Discovery runs July 5-30th. You have the choice of either a half-day program (9:30-12:30) or a full day (9:30-3:30) with the option of before and after-care. We hope to see you!
OTHER CAMP INFO: • offer individualized, student-centered teaching and mentorship
• teach and practice Language Arts, Reading, and Mathematics skills in enjoyable themed units
• build creativity and self-confidence which campers can carry into their schoolyears
• teach social and teamwork skills in a natural, respectful way
• teach skills and strategies around test-taking, project completion, study skills, and essay writing
• introduce assistive technology programs and provide opportunities to apply these across the curriculum
CAMP SESSION DATES & FEES:
Camp Discovery runs from July 4th to July 31st, 2022. Day sessions run from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm for half-day sessions and from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm for full-day sessions.
