CAMP FACILITIES: The Academy contains four spacious and well-equipped dance studios, two acting studios, two private voice studios, a student practice room, a student/teacher library, a student lounge and a comfortable waiting area for parents accompanying students to the Academy. In addition, the Charles Gray Auditorium offers the Academy a theater in which to showcase the accomplishments and achievements of its student body.

CAMP FACILITIES: We have 3 outdoor riding arenas with jumping courses, access to an outdoor pool, stables with stalls for 45 horses, an arts & crafts room, changing room and a seperate lunch/activity room.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The day camp at Ashford Farm in suburban Philadelphia is for children ages 6 to 14 who are interested in learning the correct basics of horsemanship and riding in an atmosphere designed for both safety and fun.

In addition to daily riding and horse care instruction, camp activities include arts and crafts, swimming and outdoor games. The program also features a camp picnic, field trips, a sleepover, a camp horse show and Parents Day.

Our enrollment is limited to 40. Beginner, intermediate and advanced groups are formed according to riding ability.

OTHER CAMP INFO: Camp Winnipeg, located in West Chester at the West Chester Area YMCA provides campers who are preschool age through 8th grade with a summer they'll never forget. Campers have an opportunity to make friends and participate in a variety of camp activities including: arts & crafts, sports, free swim, field games, community service and weekly themed activities.

Camp Winnipeg runs for 11 weeks from June 13 through August 26 and registration for camp is done by the week to allow families flexibility to select camp weeks that work for them. Eileen is an award-winning Director and Choreographer and a former Broadway performer and Rockette. She directed and staged the Radio City Christmas Spectacular touring productions for 9 years. She has served as Artistic Director of the Rockette's Summer Intensive Program and as Associate Producer for the theater company, Reagle Music Theater in Boston and as director for the annual Bradley Awards at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Eileen was in the Broadway casts of 42nd Street, Will Rogers Follies, and in the international tour of My One and Only (with Tommy Tune). Her television credits include the Grammy Awards, Tony Awards, One Life to Live, Macy's Parade, Kennedy Center Honors, Late Show with David Letterman, and Oprah.

CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Artistic merit scholarships are available. Each student will be considered and evaluated when their application is submitted. Our intensive focuses primarily on acting, dance, voice lessons, interpreting music and lyrics, and audition techniques. These classes are for the serious student of Musical Theatre and emphasize technical skill development and professional preparation.

Housed in the award-winning Pittsburgh Playhouse, these classes offer students the unique opportunity to work and study in our world-class facilities, including production & design labs; scenic & prop shops; and light & sound studios. We have a large Dining Hall facility, and a brand new Children's Ministry Building (fit for indoor sports and recreation, as well as meeting places). Additionally, the camp has 200 privately owned cottages, three large RV lots, a large soccer field and baseball field, disc golf and mini golf courses, basketball courts, volleyball courts, and a gaga ball pit. There are two tabernacles, the Main Tabernacle and Youth Tabernacle, for services. The Susquehanna River serves as a great place for swimming, kayaking, canoeing, and tubing.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Mahaffey Camp offers a variety of programs, from summer youth camps and family camp to year-long retreats and events. Our staff is a dedicated group of people who are passionate about serving campers of all ages and leading them to a vibrant experience with God. Our mission is "to reach others with the Gospel and teach them about the Lord." Mahaffey Camp aims to be "A Christian Center for Spiritual Growth." Mahaffey Camp is a member of the Christian Camp and Conference Association.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Those who wish to be considered as Counselors or Jr. Counselors should contact the camp office promptly, as available positions fill up quickly. Counselors and Jr. Counselors are required to attend a mandatory Counselor Training weekend, held at the end of May or beginning of June. Teen Counselors and Jr. Counselors are expected to attend a youth camp of their own age group.

CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: For scholarship assistance, please contact the camp office. We have a scholarship fund that is used to help sponsor campers who are experiencing financial hardship and need assistance to be able to attend camp.

FAMILY CAMP SESSION(S): Mahaffey Family Camp takes place during the last full week of July every year; in 2018, the dates are July 20 through 29. Events and services are offered for all age groups throughout the 10 days. Special events include a 5k race, Motorcycle Rally, Missionary Rally, Women's Day, Children's Penny Parade, Baptismal Service, and Gospel Concert. The camp store and Dining Hall are open for meals every day, and the craft store (selling merchandise and handmade crafts to benefit camp) is open daily. Dorm Accommodations are available, as well as RV and tent sites. Different types of services are offered, including Adult morning and evening services, prayer and healing services, Teen morning and evening services, Children's ministries, and Fresh Breeze afternoon service.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: Youth Camps are held in the summer, while many retreats are held throughout the rest of the year. Mahaffey offers a variety of different retreats and events, including Applefest, Quilt Retreats, Scrapbook Retreats, Men's Link, Prayer Retreat, Mother / Daughter Retreat, REPLENISH (youth winter retreat), and private horsemanship lessons. Additionally, facility use at Mahaffey Camp is available for events such as banquets, youth/church retreats, Dorm stay, group stay, conferences, etc. Contact the camp office to book a retreat or event.

As with many aspects of teenagers lives our camp is also a very social place and we work hard to model and encourage positive relationships, create community in an authentic way, stop cliques from developing, and take away many of the traditional pressures that teens feel in school. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Summer Theatre Camp is the hallmark of Yes! And… Collaborative Arts Imagination Programming. We have been running these camps for over 15 years!

Yes! And… Collaborative Arts offers exciting, creative and transformative summer experiences for young people grades K-12. No previous theatre experience? No problem! Does your child not like to be in front of a group? No problem! Our programs dig into each child's imagination and awaken a sense of play and wonder. We explore dance, acting, music, visual arts and more in order to teach collaboration, working as a group, and building on each other's strengths.

Every camp culminates in an original performance. We can't tell you what they are, because your child is part of the writing and creating process! We can tell you that these showcases are exciting, celebratory, and always an adventure. Our Imagination Camps usually showcase on Friday at 3:30pm, after their day is done. Our Theatre Camps will usually showcase at the end of each week, also at 3:30pm. After either their 2 or 3 week thematic unit is done, they will put on a larger show on the Friday at 6pm. (Kids stay after camp for rehearsal and pizza!)

Yes! And... Collaborative Arts hand picks an incredible team of artists and educators each summer. Artist teachers prepare classes in acting, movement, visual arts and storytelling while Travelers are on hand to guide each tribe of kids throughout the day. High school students from our SHADOW Co. are also a part of the tribes as Junior Travelers. Staff hired by Yes! And... Collaborative Arts have trained in our Collaborative Arts Institute and have proper and up-to-date copies of child abuse and criminal record background checks. We retain many of our staff from previous years, so your child will get to know their favorites!

Get ready to move! Work with our talented dance instructors to learn new skills and new dance forms while having TONS of fun. This one week intensive focuses on how we move our bodies and will end with a short showing of our new moves!

Earth, Water, Wind, & Fire - The four elements may seem like complete opposites, but do they actually work together? Are they instead mortal enemies? We will jump into myth creation quick during this 2-week workshop.

Katerina Romanenko, Ph.D. Assistant Director of Youth and Family Programs

An experienced educator and visual culture historian, Dr. Romanenko specializes in Museum education, art history, American History, and object-based learning in formal and informal environments. She holds a PhD in Art History from the City University of New York and for more than 15 years teaches art history and works in Museum education. She also holds a BA in Education Sciences and has experience in research, development and implementation of educational programs for different age groups.

Alicia Mino, Art Educator, Manager of the School and Community Programs

An accomplished practicing artists and art educator, Alicia Mino received her Master’s in visual communication from the Metropolitan University of Chile, She spent fifteen years in Italy studying art history, oil painting, and sculpture. She presented in numerous art exhibitions and founded the Mates Art and Design Studio, where she taught drawing, oil/acrylic painting, and sculpture fundamentals for ten years. In 2008 Alicia moved to Philadelphia where she continues to exhibit her work and teaches art.

Lindsey Murphy, Art Educator and K-8 Program Coordinator

An art educator with over a decade of experience in the field of education, Lindsey Murphy has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology; concentration in Archaeology from Millersville University, and an Elementary Teaching Certification from Millersville University. She worked as a general education classroom teacher in the Oxford Area School District in Chester County, PA for 8 years, and has worked in PAFA’s education department over the past 11 years creating and implementing numerous museum tours and art making experiences for children and families of all backgrounds, becoming the K-8 Program Coordinator in 2019..

Melissa Hendrixson, Art Educator

Melissa Hendrixson is an artist and art educator who has worked in Museum Education for over five years. She has her Bachelor's of Fine Arts and Studio Certificate from Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and has gained experience through assisting the coordination and development of various museum programming including family programs, youth art classes, and summer camps. She now works for the School and Community Partnership Program as an art educator where she develops and implements museum tours, school lessons, and community outreach programs to support student learning, parental engagement and visual literacy initiatives.

Camp SAY was established with one goal in mind – to provide children who stutter with a highly immersive and accepting summer camp experience that builds self-confidence and helps children develop the vital communication skills they need to fully express themselves without fear, bullying or ridicule.

Complementing our wide range of exciting traditional camp activities, Camp SAY provides each child with unique experiences that challenge them in a safe way, creating a strong sense of achievement and helping them confidently navigate the unique issues that children who stutter face in the everyday world.

STAFF
The staff is dedicated to creating a safe and accepting environment where every child can find their beautiful and unique voice. Approximately 80% of children return to camp. Parents and campers tell us it’s our staff and unique approach that consistently exceed expectations, making Camp SAY such a rewarding and transformative experience.

We provide an excellent Staff-to-Camper Ratio: With Camp’s leadership team, camp counselors, specialized activities staff and more, our staff-to-camper ratio is 1 staff member for every 2-3 campers. In addition, each bunk is staffed at night with at least 2 counselors for an average of 6-10 campers.

Counselors complete a comprehensive training program to support the social, emotional and physical needs of all our campers. Staff development includes leadership training and extensive information about stuttering, camper health and safety, camp philosophy, policies and procedures and much more. Additionally, Specialized Activities Staff is carefully selected based on their skills and expertise.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Our CIT (Counselors-In-Training) program is offered for 16 & 17 year-olds. This program requires an application and interview. It is designed to introduce young people interested in becoming camp counselors to leadership skill-building, public speaking, program design and child development. This is a 2-week program. CAMP FACILITIES: Camp Harmony features 8 newly remodeled cabins, 5 rustic cabins, RV campground, teepees, swimming pool & waterslide, climbing & rappelling tower, high & low elements ropes course, pavilions, catch & release pond, indoor gym & multipurpose building, dining hall, meeting rooms, and retreat buildings for large and small groups of all types. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Since 1924, Camp Harmony has offered programs that train Christians in the way they should go. Our mission is to invite all people to experience the wonder of creation and to grow in closer harmony with God, with nature, and with one another. We aim to do so through offering programs for all ages to participate in fun learning experiences in a variety of formats and by providing space where individuals and groups can connect in a greater way.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Camp Harmony offers a Leaders-in-Training program for youth ages 16 & older who have completed at least 10th grade. Leaders-in-Training participate in activities during the week of staff training and then choose 2 weeks out of the summer to volunteer with our staff in various capacities.

Join the Leadership Exploration and Development Program (LEaD) and prepare to be a part of the next generation of ESF Leaders. Through immersive leadership workshops, hands-on mentoring and apprentice opportunities, team building initiatives and philanthropic service learning experiences, the LEaD Program will prepare you for the very valuable job of making a difference in the lives of children.

SUMMER CAMP JOBS:
The counselors have the most direct impact on a child’s experience at camp. We are seeking dedicated, fun, enthusiastic staff who understand that “Campers Come First.” Counselors must be at least 18 years of age or have graduated from high school. All counselors will teach in one of our program areas and co-lead a cabin of 8-12 children. Pay is $250-$275 per week depending on experience.

CAMP FACILITIES: Camp Sequoia is very fortunate to call The Perkiomen School campus our summer home. Pennsburg is a suburban area approximately a one hour drive northwest of Philadelphia in Montgomery County. The proximity of many educational and recreational activities to Pennsburg make our weekly out of camp trips very convenient.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The Perkiomen School offers a wide array of playing fields and outdoor athletic facilities such as tennis and basketball courts. An indoor, competition size swimming pool, multiple gyms and top notch art facilities are just a few of the indoor highlights. When it's time for bed, campers will enjoy the comfort of their bedrooms which feature closets, dressers and desks. Bad weather is no problem at Camp Sequoia thanks to our amazing facilities. This is a great asset to our campers who have trouble with change in schedules.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: The LIT program meets the need for young people ages 16-17 who are not yet ready for a summer job and need help developing their social thinking skills, independent skills and job readiness skills. Camp Sequoia's Leader-In-Training program provides a safe and supportive environment for our LIT's to learn and practice these important skills.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: Sequoia Kids Weekend Program: A School Year Social Skill Development and Recreational Program for children ages 7-15. Dynamic trips up and down the East Coast foster real life social skills lessons. Camp Leadership and a Registered Nurse are always on these trips.

CAMP FACILITIES: The program is facilitated indoors and outdoors of Rose Playground. Teenagers In Charge is youth driven and any/all program activities are planned, coordinated and facilitated by those who are actively involved in the organization.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Teenagers In Charge is a nonprofit organization that was founded in 1995 for and about teens and tweens (10-17 years old) whose mission is to help them build their self-esteem, heighten their cultural and community awareness while teaching them how to take charge of their lives. The sessions are theme based and activities are centered around the themes each month.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: Teenagers In Charge is facilitated every Saturday morning excluding holidays and inclement weather. The program is for and about teens and tweens (10-17) with a youth agenda. The program generally meets from September through May however, it plans to host a number of youth activities for the entire summer for a nominal fee. CAMP FACILITIES: Our cabins are nestled in the woods, on a lake, and each one has a bathroom with two sinks, two toilets, and two showers. Our dining hall is large enough to seat the entire camp, so we are able to eat all of our meals as one big family. We have a heated outdoor pool, two baseball fields, two large multi-purpose fields (soccer, football, lacrosse), 6 tennis courts, an outdoor and an indoor basketball court, a fencing room, a fitness center, an indoor floor hockey/soccer rink, a multi-room arts & crafts center, more than 10 high ropes and climbing elements, a beautiful covered theater that overlooks the lake, plenty of forest for hiking, biking, and camping, and much more.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Our camp environment is designed to promote success, self-confidence and self-esteem for every single camper. We limit our enrollment to ensure that every camper is known - by name, by interests and by who they are as individuals. All of our programs combine skill development, challenges and fun, stressing participation and sportsmanship over winning while encouraging campers to get into the spirit of healthy competition.

We pride ourselves on hiring fantastic, talented staff. Our friendly counselors get the kind of training that helps them give their very best to your child. Many of our counselors are former campers who can't wait to share the Lake Owego experience from a first-hand perspective. We also personally recruit counselors from colleges and universities throughout the United States as well as some from Scotland, England and other countries.

Lake Owego Camp is owned by the Black family, who has been operating youth summer camps longer than almost anyone else. In 1931, Hughie and Selma Black founded Pine Forest Camp, which grew over the years to become a nationally recognized co-ed camp. Building on that success, Lake Owego for boys was opened in 1961, and our sister camp for girls, Camp Timber Tops, was opened in 1963.

Today, the third-generation and 4th generation leadership of Mickey and Barbara Black, and their children, Lee and Anna, carry on the family legacy, earning awards such as "Family Business of the Year" and serving as active leaders in the American Camping Association of America.

Directors John and Rachel Waszczak, Kyle Silver, Jeff Freedman and Shelly Silver have over 90 years of combined camp experience, and they work together a fantastic camp experience for each and every Lake Owego camper.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Campers going into 11th grade take part in our Counselor Assistant program, which includes opportunities to assist in teaching activities, assist in younger bunks, go on college tours to NY, MD, PA, MA, and a 2 week trip to Costa Rica. The Costa Rica trip is included in the camp tuition, and the campers will get to explorer and see the sites, go on a canopy zip-line tour, and hike around a volcano, as well as train for and put on a 1 week camp for underserved local children. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity!

The magic of Longacre happens as we bring learning leadership into all aspects of camp life and come together as a community. We believe in learning by living, and learning to better communicate how we feel about our experiences.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Leadership is the backbone to our program. To us, Leadership looks different for everyone. By building relationships, practicing open and honest communication, and empowered decision making. Our community values self-expression, compassion, cooperative leadership, and living joyfully.

Throughout every aspect of our program, campers and staff develop lifelong friends, indelible memories, and tangible skills. We grow leaders each summer who make lasting impacts on their communities, families, and the world.

Two aspects of our program that specifically are designed for intentional communication, empowered decision making, and relationship building include Crew and Group. Crew is the daily "chores" group that every camper participates in. This is anything from cooking breakfast, to cleaning the stalls and feeding the horses, to taking out the trash and recycling around camp. We do hard work, and then we get to play! Group is our evening program that is defined as "the part of Longacre that makes us unique". This is an intentionally facilitated communication workshop for all of our campers and staff. This is where we use communication tools and skills to better understand ourselves, others, and how we interact with the world.

Longacre Leadership Camp is a residential, co-ed summer camp located in Central Pennsylvania for students aged 8 - 18. We are located on a 114 acre farm 40 minutes north of Harrisburg and will be enjoying our 44th summer this year. Position dates are from June 14th - August 15th 2018.

We hire camp counselors, AKA Big Kids aged 21 and over who are passionate about working with young people and who are committed to building a community. We are looking for staff with a range of skills and expertise including, carpentry, horse riding, arts and crafts, animal husbandry, outdoor education and organic gardening. This position is a blend of farm work and youth work.

They include a dining hall and kitchen, craft house, boat house, medical facility, and eight of the fourteen camper cabins. The oldest building in camp is our historic Lodge, used for shows and group gatherings. The 200 acre natural lake provides a beautiful and functional setting for all our aquatic activities. Camp also includes a climbing wall, tennis courts, a volleyball court, field, archery range, campcraft area, nature/ecology area, and a 500 acre preserved area used for hiking and mountain biking.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Our aquatic program is extensive, taking advantage of our location on a beautiful, 200 acre, natural, mountain lake. Water skiing, swimming, canoeing, sailing, kayaking, water trampoline, and more occur on the lake. 80-90% of our staff, on average, are trained in Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR and First Aid. Our boat drivers are required to have a Pennsylvania boating safety license and are screened in our boats.

Older campers may take whitewater canoe trips on the Delaware River and/or a four-day lake canoeing trip to the Adirondacks. Other trips include hiking on the Appalachian Trail, Loyalsock Trail (World's End State Park), Rickett's Glen State Park, Hickory Run State Park, and local trips to the blueberry farm, mill pond, and a local camping spot.
