Camp SAY was established with one goal in mind – to provide children who stutter with a highly immersive and accepting summer camp experience that builds self-confidence and helps children develop the vital communication skills they need to fully express themselves without fear, bullying or ridicule.

Complementing our wide range of exciting traditional camp activities, Camp SAY provides each child with unique experiences that challenge them in a safe way, creating a strong sense of achievement and helping them confidently navigate the unique issues that children who stutter face in the everyday world.

STAFF
The staff is dedicated to creating a safe and accepting environment where every child can find their beautiful and unique voice. Approximately 80% of children return to camp. Parents and campers tell us it’s our staff and unique approach that consistently exceed expectations, making Camp SAY such a rewarding and transformative experience.

We provide an excellent Staff-to-Camper Ratio: With Camp’s leadership team, camp counselors, specialized activities staff and more, our staff-to-camper ratio is 1 staff member for every 2-3 campers. In addition, each bunk is staffed at night with at least 2 counselors for an average of 6-10 campers.

Counselors complete a comprehensive training program to support the social, emotional and physical needs of all our campers. Staff development includes leadership training and extensive information about stuttering, camper health and safety, camp philosophy, policies and procedures and much more. Additionally, Specialized Activities Staff is carefully selected based on their skills and expertise.

Traveling to Camp SAY: Campers come from all around the country and abroad. We work closely with families to make each child’s trip to Camp SAY as safe and enjoyable as possible. We schedule a chaperoned flight from the southeast to New York City. Children taking individual flights are welcomed at the gate by camp staff. Upon arrival at the airport, camp staff helps navigate baggage claim, arrange check-in for return flights, and board campers on the bus for a fun trip to Camp SAY.

CAMP FACILITIES: We have a 120 seat theater which features full working lights and sound to produce and create the best possible theater atmosphere for young actors and first timers alike.

Tricia Patrick, our executive director, has been a dancer and actor for the past 20 years. She has been acting and teaching with Galli Theater for 9 years in the USA and Europe.

Simon Geronimo, our artistic director, has been performing with the Galli Theater for over 15 years in Europe and North America. He has been trained in acting by Johannes Galli and is also a certified Galli Method ® Trainer.

The Galli Theater communicates important social issues through modern adaptations of fairy tales from around the world. The plays highlight their symbols and help to illuminate wisdom that is highly relevant in today’s society. They awaken a sense of liveliness in audiences and actors alike that can help reveal the genuine person and his inner vision and power, thus celebrating childhood.

Our camps help participants gain self-confidence, overcome barriers, learn new languages and cultures, improve acting skills, and increase health and wellness.

CAMP FACILITIES: Each of our cabins is equipped with complete bathrooms/ showers, electricity, porches and plenty of space. (No bunk beds!) Cabins are designed to hold between 5-8 campers with a minimum of 3 staff members living in each cabin so that we can maintain our 2:1 camper counselor ratio.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Located along a secluded nine-mile lake in the Adirondacks of New York State is a private/ independent seven-week residential camp for 130 children from across the United States and around the world. Camp Northwood is oriented toward children with low self-esteem, immature social skill development, high functioning autism, Asperger's Syndrome and learning challenges in need of a structured and supportive, socially therapeutic summer experience. Northwood's program, developed and supervised by an outstanding staff of special educators, focuses on the development of independence, social skills, self-image and the maintenance of academic skills.

Each Northwood camper participates in a fully non-competitive, socially oriented, main-streamed styled camp program. A camper/ counselor ratio of 2:1 provides a high level of individualization at activities and in the cabin setting insuring success. In addition to traditional camp activities, each child participates in an individually designed academic program intended to help maintain current skill levels throughout the summer season. Our summer camp is only as good as the staff it hires. That is why we search the globe for the most experienced and enthusiastic staff members we can find. From England to Australia and California to Maine, our staff consists of about fifteen different nations and over twenty states. Everyone comes together with one goal in mind; to make sure our campers have the best summer of their lives!

We are looking for general counselors, specialist counselors, leadership positions, and support staff for the upcoming summer. General counselors spend the day with their division of campers; guiding, supporting, and supervising them as they go from activity to activity.

As a specialist, you concentrate on a specific area, passing on your knowledge to our campers to ensure they are learning or mastering that skill. The leadership roles we fill each summer range from department heads and group leaders to medical staff and office assistants. Lastly, our support staff members work behind the scenes as kitchen staff, maintenance workers, groundskeepers, and housekeepers to ensure the day to day operations of camp are handled.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Our Mission: To engage, empower, excite, and educate young students in the performing arts. Theater educators must guide students with experience, skill, energy, patience, insight, and a sense of humor. Mentoring through education is vital to the mission statement of On Broadway: Performing Arts Training Program. Our goal is to not only teach students the principles of the performing arts in a conservatory type setting, but also help them discover truth and meaning along the way. No matter which direction they may take in life. All classes are led by theater or design professionals with years of experience in the performing arts industry.

Our Executive Director, Rema Webb, is an 18 year Broadway veteran. She is currently appearing on Broadway in The Color Purple. Her most recent credits include: A New Brain at City Center and Violet at Roundabout Theatre starring Sutton Foster. Rema appeared in NBC’s The Sound of Music Live performance starring Carrie Underwood. Additional movie credits include: The Oksana Baiul Story, Sudden Death, Beloved, and First Born.She has been a member of Disney’s The Lion King since 1999 and is an Original cast member of The Book of Mormon. Her Broadway debut was in the 1998 production of Ragtime.

Our Managing Director, Daniel Siford, has served as a director, teaching artist, artist in residence, and guest artist with theater schools, professional theatre companies, and dance companies up and down the east coast. The list includes reputable organizations such as The Rugby School, Two River Theatre Company, Act One Theater School, and Play Group Theater. Additionally, he ran summer camps for the McBurney YMCA (NYC) for three consecutive years. He spent several proud years working in various capacities at the NYC office of the American Indian College Fund. He is currently involved with creating and implementing a new training program for staff and foster parents in Family Foster Care/Therapeutic Family Foster Care programs at the largest child welfare agency in the state of New York. Danny has a bachelor’s in musical theatre and a master’s in psychology. Daniel’s engaging personality and authentic spirit has allowed him to make a difference in the lives of hundreds of children and families, his proudest accomplishment to date.

What are Master Teachers?
What makes OnBroadway-PATP special is the infusion of amazing Master Class teachers the program has available. Each On Broadway PATP program incorporates a Master Class teacher or artist. The array of Master Teachers includes Broadway Directors, renowned Playwrights, Industry professionals, and more! They are a group of folks who have devoted themselves to a life that encompasses performing arts, strength-based practices, and self-expression.

What is a Master Class?
A Master Class is a class given to students of a particular discipline by an expert of that discipline. Master classes are intertwined within all of our programs. On Broadway PATP is dedicated to providing the best Master Classes that NYC has to offer.
All of our Master Classes, which take place twice weekly are open to parents. Drop in Master Classes are available to parents and students at $40 per class.

Through mentorship and support, students are encouraged to challenge themselves and grow. On Broadway Performing Arts Training Program is the best training a kid can get for the stage and for life!

Each week includes daily instruction in all aspects of the performing arts. Daily curriculum implementation includes (all age appropriate):

Dance - Tap, Ballet, Jazz, Modern, and Musical Theater

Summer Camp includes a Dance partnership field trip to the New Victory Theatre.

THE FINAL SHOWCASE
Each program will culminate with a professional performance with live musicians and state of the art design in a 220 seat theatre located in Riverside Theatre.

Only children who participate in 4 or more weeks of summer program are eligible for a leading role in summer shows. Auditions for roles will take place prior to the first day of the program. All others will be considered for ensemble roles only and welcome to participate!

CAMP SESSION DATES & FEES:
Week One will focus on preparing students for what it takes to be the best you can be at an audition. Students will learn how to choose and absorb material, and be given the opportunity to audition for program directors and a panel of other industry professionals. The audition will take place on the last day of week one in the afternoon. AM classes will include music, dance, and acting classes and PM schedule will be geared towards preparing students for audition. Audition pieces will be assigned unless otherwise agreed upon by program directors. A resume workshop will also be included in this week. This week is great as a single week or as part of the whole package.

Week Two focuses on performance based methods and techniques. Students will learn acting principles of Meisner, Stanislavsky, and Method Acting. They will participate in creative and educational music classes led by our professionally trained music director. Our accomplished dance director will challenge them on a daily basis with the fundamentals and importance of dance. A weekly invited class will take place in the afternoon on the last day of Week Two. Daily schedule will include AM classes in music, dance, and acting and PM schedule will focus on the technique of learning new material as an ensemble.

Week Three focuses on solo/group work. Whether you choose this week singly or as part of the whole program, you will not be disappointed. As well as continuing the technique training that was offered in Week One and Week Two, Week Three will focus on the importance of being able to work on your own or in a group. YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: Pok-O-MacCready operates an Outdoor Education Center on its grounds from September through June of each year. Since 1974, the Pok-O-MacCready Outdoor Education Center has welcomed thousands of students and adults to participate in wilderness adventure excursions, team building dynamics, wildlife & ecology studies, living history programs, community events, and conservation initiatives. Apart from onsite day & multi-day overnight programs, PMOEC is available for school visits and in-classroom programming. It’s true! Many of our campers choose to stay for all seven weeks of the summer. Staying for the whole season really allows campers to hone their skills in their class areas, go on more wilderness trips, and means they won’t miss out on any of the big summer camp events! In addition, 7-weekers get to enjoy special events in between the 4-week and 3-week session break such as Beach Day and a day trip to the Great Escape amusement park. Some campers choose to register for the first 4 weeks, and then decide later to upgrade to the full 7-week session, and that’s just fine by us. If you’re unsure whether your camper would like to be a 4-weeker or a 7-weeker, don’t worry…it only takes a mouse-click for us to change a 4-weeker to a 7-weeker. Feel free to discuss that option with your child if you think they could benefit from a longer session!

4-WEEK SESSION JULY 1, 2018 – JULY 29, 2019 Standard Rate: $6,400
The first half of the summer consists of our 4-week overnight program. The 4-week session allows campers to learn new skills and take part in a variety of classes. The session includes many themed events which lead up to our “Color Wars”, in which campers don their colors of Red, Yellow, Blue, Black, or Green and see which team will come out on top: these games have been a camper favorite for decades!

“ROOKIE CAMP” (2 Weeks, for ages 6-10 only)
JULY 1, 2018 – JULY 14, 2018 Standard Rate: $3,200

For the first two weeks of the 4-Week session, we run a two week “Rookie Camp” for first-time campers between the ages of 6 to 9 years old. We feel this short session is a good bite-sized introduction to summer camp, and also allows campers the flexibility to stay on for the remainder of the 4-week session if they get bitten by the “summer camp bug” and want to stay longer!

3-WEEK SESSION (Overnight) JULY 31, 2018 – AUGUST 18, 2018 Standard Rate: $4,600

The 3-Week session offers two options to campers: a traditional overnight summer camp program, or a day-camp option. The 3-Week session is full of fun classes Mondays – Fridays, with special events planned on the weekends. It’s also the session in which our famous GREEK GAMES take place, as well as some of our campers’ all-time favorite camp events like the “Pok-O-Palooza” music festival, the Jack’s Cup sailing race, Casino Night, and the Pok-O County Fair.

3-WEEK SESSION (Day Camp)* JULY 21, 2018 – AUGUST 18, 2018 Standard Rate: $2,100 for a first-time camper.

Our day campers attend camp from approximately 9am to about 5pm Mondays through Fridays. Just like overnight campers, they get to create their own class schedule from a list of over 30 program offerings. They are, of course, assigned to a cabin and counselor and have their own bunks so they have a comfortable spot to relax during Rest Hour. Day campers also have the option of staying the night for an evening activity or program if they wish, and we can easily make those arrangements, although a small fee may apply. They also have the added bonus of being able to stay overnight the last week of camp for no additional fee!

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Bonjour NY is a French immersion summer camp located in the heart of New York City. We offer weekly registration from 1 to 9 weeks. Bonjour NY was elected "best camp attended in NY" by our families, is accredited by the American Camp Association and is a NYC licensed.

Our campers spend a lot of time outdoors playing sports, water games, swimming, going out on fun trips to local farms, making bread at local French bakeries.... The staff engages in French only with the campers through live games, songs, arts...

Our staff is fluent in French and comes from all over the world. All staff members are fully trained by Bonjour NY and many are also certified in Advanced First Aid, CPR for the Professional rescuers, lifeguarding...Everybody is carefully selected and a full background check is done on all employees. May of us are teachers and certified educators.

CAMP FACILITIES: At Timber Lake West, Campers live in modern, paneled cabins called bunks. Each bunk is equipped with full bathrooms and storage space for each camper's belongings. Three to four counselors and eight to ten campers make up each bunk.

Campers make their beds, care for their own belongings and practice good personal hygiene. Our professional housekeeping staff maintains and sanitizes the bathrooms daily. A complete packing list and Parents' Manual make the process of preparing for camp as easy and convenient as possible.

The cabin or bunk is where campers learn to live together as a group, to share and to respect each other. We see bunk living as the core of the camp experience - central to our mission of teaching children the skills of making and keeping friends.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Timber Lake West's unique four-week summer camp program offers children a place to make new friends, try new activities and grow as a person. We believe that camp has to be safe and it has to be fun. That's what Timber Lake West is all about. We take all the fun, spirit, excitement and tradition of a full season camp experience and power pack it into four weeks.

Our athletic program includes clinics, instruction, inter-camp tournaments, and plenty of games played just for fun. HARDCORE ATHLETICS:
Hardcore Sports is designed to provide extra instruction and drills in various sports for those campers who elect to work with extra intensity on their skills. The work-out sessions are held during an elective or swim period for those campers yearning to improve their skills, practice for upcoming tournaments or play at a higher level of competition. These campers get a chance to work on their mechanics through drills, practicing game situations, improving their mental preparation, building self-esteem and getting into or staying in great physical shape.

Two periods each day are devoted to swimming and water sports. Our emphasis is on safety, instruction and fun. Our experienced Red Cross certified waterfront staff provides special attention to improving swim skills with the main emphasis, of course, on safety. Timber Lake West's two heated pools set us apart from others. Our Olympic size pool makes free swim a favorite activity while our completely private spring-fed lake, right in the heart of camp, provides the thrill of water-skiing and an extensive boating program, featuring instruction in canoeing, kayaking, row boating, surf bikes, paddle bikes, banana boating and water skiing.

Adventure at Timber Lake West comes alive when our campers challenge themselves to try activities they have never done before. Whether it’s hiking in the mountains, scaling our 35 foot climbing wall or soaring down our zip line, camp is meant to be an adventure.

Our low ropes course gives campers the opportunity to work together toward a common goal while building friendships, self-esteem and self-confidence.

As part of our program each bunk meets with our trained and experienced staff on our low ropes/team building course and on overnight camp outs. As a cohesive unit, the campers work together to accomplish the goals that they set for themselves at the beginning of the four week session.

Each day campers select two activities from a wide variety of athletic, adventure oriented, and performing or creative arts electives. Combined with our scheduled sports and waterfront activities, the Elective periods allow campers to customize their summer program. Before bedtime, campers stop with friends at our Planet West Canteen, complete with snacks, Pop-a-Shot, ping pong, pool tables and air hockey.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Our Teen programs are strong and we’re proud that we continue to attract returning older campers year after year. In spite of all of the other choices that high school-aged children have in today’s world, the large majority of our campers choose to return to Timber Lake West all the way through the end of their Teen summers.

The Timber Lake West Teen Program begins with diverse programming, more day trips out of camp, more choice and flexibility daily, a later wake-up (they ARE teenagers, after all), many community service opportunities and strong staff and supervision. Our Teens alternate between a two-day Whitewater Rafting trip or a two-day trip to Hershey/Dorney Parks.

Our Teens are also part of our apprenticeship program in camp, through which they choose a specialty area and an age group with which they think they might like to work. For several hours each week, they will be assigned to work with these groups so that they can get a feel for coming back as Junior Counselors.

We provide structure, supervision, feedback and training so that they are successful AND prepared to be part of our staff!

CAMP FACILITIES: We are located on the grounds of an old mansion turned independent school in St.James, NY. Our campus includes over 11 acres of fields and playgrounds, a pool, and outdoor classroom pond center. Our building includes many air conditioned classrooms used for activities and classes throughout the day.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: The majority of our camp staff is chosen from graduates of our two year CIT program for students entering 9th and 10th grades. 9th Graders are placed in groups and learn how to manage the campers, the schedule, and the various trials and tribulations of any job. They also take a weekly class with our CIT coordinator. Those CIT's entering 10th grade enjoy added responsibility and leadership opportunities and have a weekly class with the Director of Summer Programs, during which they learn job skills such as resume building, interview skills, and public speaking.

All CIT's receive certifications in CPR, First Aid, and Babysitting through the Red Cross.

ARIZONA: Camp Shane Arizona located at the naturally beautiful Orme School with 360 degree views of distant mesas and mountains boasting 19th century ranch buildings is truly a place to laugh, learn and lose weight. GEORGIA: Camp Shane Georgia’s campus is located at Emmanuel College in northeast Georgia in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. An hour and a half drive from Atlanta, Georgia it's a quiet and safe setting on 200 acres. All facilities air-conditioned and it boasts an indoor 9-lane collegiate size pool, Aquatic Center, 4000 Sq.ft. air-conditioned Fitness Center with state of the art wellness equipment, fabulous new dormitories, quad style with one or two campers sharing a bathroom. Minutes from Georgia state parks, river activities, and Lake Hartwell. It's a wonderful place to experience summer fun while learning about nutrition, healthy cooking and fitness.

TEXAS: Camp Shane Texas is set on a lovely 83-acre, beautifully landscaped and wooded campus with attractive and well kept facilities in gorgeous Texas Hill Country setting. Dormitories are modern with custom furniture, granite bathroom counter tops and polished concrete floors. All sport facilities, dorms and classrooms are air conditioned. There is an outdoor classroom, garden, orchard, chicken coop, and miles of nature trails as well as a state-of-the-art weight room, fitness center, multi-purpose room, two gymnasiums and a new indoor swimming pool. Wholesome and nutritious Shane approved healthy menu prepared on-site. We are not a fat camp nor are we a boot camp. We combine all the fun of traditional summer camp with the benefits of weight loss.

WISCONSIN: Camp Shane Wisconsin is set on 80 acres, located off the shore of Lake Michigan. Dorms are newly constructed, modern and fully air-conditioned. There is an extensive, state of the art, multi-million-dollar fitness center and large grass playing fields to run fun fitness activities outdoors. The property also boasts an Olympic size indoor swimming pool – great for water exercise. CAMP FACILITIES: Founded in 2001, the JBFC shows hundreds of films each year in our five-screen art house theater and pioneers a unique, hands-on approach to media literacy at our Media Arts Lab across the street. Play, make, and explore with a range of cutting-edge technology in our state-of-the-art production spaces, including a sound stage, recording studio, screening room, editing suites, computer labs, and numerous shooting and production spaces. All sessions are held at the Media Arts Lab with occasional visits to the JBFC Theater just down the street, or into the village with supervision.

Learn about media from the inside out through the JBFC’s Viewing & Doing program! Learn to watch feature films the way a director does (and write reviews!) and explore a different type of media—including animation, film, sound, and gaming—each day. In addition, you’ll participate in film-related challenges and activities as you work together in groups.

On the Set
Time to make a movie! Campers write, direct, film, and edit a short collaborative film in a professional environment. Working in a group, you’ll learn to pitch and develop ideas, storyboard, design light and sound, and edit with Adobe Premiere Pro CC. This filmmaking immersion is an opportunity to see a short project through from concept to completion.

CAMP FACILITIES: Most campers live in either platform tents with modern washhouses, or in our all weather cabins. Rock Hill has a lake for swimming and boating; low, medium and high ropes, a zip line, an archery range, miles of hiking grounds, primitive camping sights, arts and crafts, indoor cabins, and modern dining facilities.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: All Rock Hill campers have busy days filled with traditional camp activities including: swimming, boating, arts and crafts, outdoor cooking, ropes courses, archery and hikes around camp! Nights are filled with campfires, time to choose your own activities, and all-camp activities that could be anything from a Counselor Hunt, to a Luau, or a camp wide Goldrush! Additionally, each girl selects a program theme of her choice and will complete the activities described within. Rock Hill is ACA-accredited and all staff undergo extensive training prior to the first day of camp.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Rock Hill provides a Counselor in Training program as well as hiring Junior Counselors.

Rock Hill Summer Girl Scout Camp is hiring counselors, lifeguards, and ropes staff for the summer of 2020.  Rock Hill is located in Mahopac, NY on 198 acres of forest with access to Long Pond Lake.  Girls and staff stay in both all weather cabins and platform tents.  Applicants must be over 18.
